The name Rock Me Baby came about nearly 30 years ago, when my husband Jay and I dreamed up the idea of opening a store. His side would echo with the sounds of vintage vinyl—from every genre imaginable—while mine would gleam with Earth science specimens like crystals, fossils, gemstones, and handmade gemstone jewelry. The name still brings a smile, and that shared love continues to shape everything we do as we prepare to officially open on August 1, 2025. At Rock Me Baby, we ignite a lifelong passion for learning through dynamic, hands-on Earth and space science experiences. We enrich education by connecting students with real specimens—from radiant crystals to ancient fossils—inviting them to explore the rock cycle, uncover geologic wonders, and dive deep into our planet’s rich history. Rooted in NGSS, STEAM, STEM, and TEKS standards, our programs empower educators and spark discovery in young scientists—revealing the beauty, complexity, and relevance of the natural world, one rock at a time. ✨ We don’t just teach rocks—we rock the way we teach! ✨ At nearly 60, I'm teaching myself to build this website, a cell phone version, and even my own app. My passion is simple: make Earth science hands-on, inclusive, and unforgettable. My Journey I have always had a deep interest in geology and Earth science, and I’ve always been a hands-on learner. I feel some students may get left behind due to lack of this learning method. I design youth enrichment activities that sparks curiosity and confidence. Over time, I noticed geology (and some aspects of earth science) often gets left behind in the classroom. That inspired me to create a mobile science experience where students can actually touch real rocks, fossils, minerals, and lava while learning how they formed. We also offer grade specific 52 week lesson plan that contains, songs, vocabulary words, games, activity ideas and much more. Launching Rock Me Baby on August 1, 2025, felt like the culmination of my lifelong commitment to equitable, joyful education for all ages. I know it won’t be easy getting the word out, so I’m asking family and friends to help spread the word. We dig rocks—literally, we've dug up many of them! Fueled by a love of geology, vinyl record jam sessions, and home-cooked goodness, we turn dirt-dusted stones into sparkling storytellers. Whether it’s a rough chunk fresh from the Earth or a polished gem with serious glow-up energy, our pieces keep it real. And we don’t just admire them—we teach with them, bringing the rock cycle to life using actual rocks, fossils, crystals, and minerals. Class never sparkled like this! Every detail of this site reflects the same devotion that goes into our services. There’s no physical storefront—we operate entirely online, with in-person presentations for schools and groups. From product photography to packaging and creating games or lesson plans, everything is handled by our small business. Jay, my husband of nearly 36 years, helps with photos and keeps the groove alive spinning jazzy, bluesy vinyl. Our rescue pup Tea is always nearby, reminding us to take a break and give her a treat or throw the ball. We’re a proud U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy family, blessed with two beautiful daughters, three grandsons, and a wonderful son-in-law. Life keeps us all busy, but every moment spent together is precious. Whether we're swapping stories or cooking up a new dish, those memories mean everything. Why Earth Science?
